Accessing Postgraduate Scholarships in the UK
The UK is one of the best study destinations for international students looking for quality education to explore. As an international student studying in the UK, the cost of study can be expensive, considering that living expenses and tuition fees do not come cheap.
Non-EU foreign students in the UK are typically charged higher tuition fees as they do not enjoy the benefits applicable to home and EU students. For this reason, many international students seek financial assistance to help cover all or part of their study expenses in the UK.
The British government runs a couple of large scholarship programmes for international students to ease the financial burden that comes with studying in the UK.
There are also several scholarship schemes funded by non-governmental organizations for international students to explore.
Here is a list of ongoing postgraduate scholarships in the UK offered by individual universities:
University of Sussex Chancellor’s International Scholarships
University of Sussex Chancellor’s International Scholarships are available in the majority of Sussex Schools and are awarded based on academic performance and potential to international and EU students who have been offered admission into eligible full-time Postgraduate taught degrees at the University of Sussex. Scholarships worth £5,000 are awarded to qualified students.
The deadline for application is 1st August 2021.
University of West London International Ambassador Scholarships
The University of West London (UWL) is offering up to 100 scholarships worth up to £5,000 towards the first year of undergraduate or postgraduate tuition fees for international students applying to start in February, June or September 2021. The International Ambassador Scholarship is intended to provide financial support for outstanding students who wish to act as ambassadors for UWL.
The deadline for application is 4th July 2021 for September 2021 intake.
University of West England Chancellor’s Scholarships
The Chancellor’s Scholarship at the University of West England awards 50% of the tuition fees for one academic year. Recipients of this scholarship will be required to undertake an internship working within the International Office or other departments and will also be required to undertake ambassadorial activity for the University during the course of their programme.
The deadline for application is 30th June 2021.
Sheffield Hallam University Transform Together Scholarships
Transform Together Scholarships are open to international students starting full-time postgraduate or undergraduate courses in Sheffield Hallam University in 2021–22. This scholarship awards a 50% discount to students who demonstrate excellent academic achievement.
The closing date for application is 1st November 2021 for courses starting in January 2022.
Nottingham Trent University
Nottingham Trent University is offering international scholarships to new international and European students. The scholarship is open to students who have an undergraduate or postgraduate offer to study in the university in September 2021 or January 2022.
The deadline for application is 30th June 2021 for September 2021 intake and 10th November 2021 for January 2022 intake.
Brunel University London
Brunel University London offers a scholarship scheme for international students at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. The scholarship awards £6,000 as a tuition fee waiver and is based on overall academic merit and professional experience. To apply you need to have received an offer to study in an eligible course starting in September 2021 or January 2022.
The deadline for application is 30th June 2021 for September 2021 entry and 20th November 2021 for January 2022 entries.
Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence Scholarships at University of Bath
The University of Bath is offering the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence Scholarship for students who hold an offer from the University of Bath for a full-time taught master’s degree studies in the following 3 faculties: Faculty of Engineering & Design, Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, and Faculty of Science. The Deans Award for Academic Excellence Scholarship worth £5,000, aims to reward students with strong academic credentials and demonstrable background of achievement and success.
The deadline for application is September 2021 entry is 16th July 2021.
